Masjid Raya Al-Mashun atau yang biasa dikenal dengan nama Masjid Raya Medan merupakan sebuah mesjid yang terletak di ibu kota Sumatra Utara, tepatnya Kota Medan. Masjid ini dibangun pada 21 Agustus 1906, selesai dan dibuka untuk umum pada 10 September 1909 M. Pada awal pendiriannya, masjid ini menyatu dengan kompleks istana maimun karna lokasinya yang berdekatan.

Bangunan mesjid ini yang megah dan masih dalam bentuknya yang asli, belum mengalami perubahan yang spesifik. membuat wisatawan yang datang ke medan harus berkunjung ke mesjid ini meski hanya sekedar berfoto-foto di halam mesjid. Gaya arsitektur mesjid ini yang berpadu antara Timur Tengah, India dan Spanyol menambah anggun bentuknya. Masjid ini berbentuk segi delapan dan memiliki sayap di bagian selatan, timur, utara dan barat. Masjid Raya Medan ini juga merupakan salah satu saksi sejarah kehebatan Suku Melayu.

Mesjid raya medan terletak di Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Medan, Sumatera Utara yang merupakan salah satu peninggalan seorang Sultan Deli di Sumatera Utara yang bernama Sultan Ma’moen Al Rasyid Perkasa Alam (1873-1924). Meski belum pernah melakukan renovasi, bukan berarti mesjid ini tidak pernah di canangkan untuk di renovasi. Pemerintah daerah Sumatera Utara pernah merencanakan renovasi bagian-bagian Masjid Raya Al-Mashun yang telah rusak dimakan usia dan perluasan agar dapat menampung Jama’ah lebih banyak. Namun, karena ditentang dari berbagai pihak yang khawatir nilai-nilai seni dari gaya arsitektur asli bangunan ini hilang, akhirnya pemerintah daerah hanya menambah sarana penunjang masjid, seperti penambahan tempat wudhu wanita (1980) tanpa mengotak-atik bangunan utamanya.
Jika anda berkunjung ke Mesjid Raya Medan, anda juga bisa langsung berkunjung ke Istana Maimun i dengan berjalan kaki, karena lokasinya yang tak terlalu jauh.
